Developing Children's Literacy: Family Reading Project Day 1
Family literacy project starts today! We are so excited of the process. Yesterday we went to public library to borrow some books for this project. Hopefully this project can be a good beginning for our family literacy culture development.
Starting today, I will post what each of family member has read every day. Here we go!
Alula's Read
Title: Baa Baa Black Sheep
Author: Jane Cabrera
Summary:
The book is about a little girl who can't stop knitting and a sheep that can't say no. The girl keeps asking wool from the sheep until the sheep has no more wool on its body. The girl feel sorry for the sheep and made a warm clothes to be worn by the sheep until the wool grows back.
Mama's notes:
Alula loves it whenever I read this book to her. She always pays attention to every picture on each pages and will help to flip the pages enthusiastically. The book is fun to read as it has a well-known nursery rhymes. So, mama can also sing while reading the book, which adds to the fun of story telling.

Title: Achtung Baby - An American Mom on the German Art of Raising Self-Reliant Children
Author: Sara Zaske
Chapter read: Introduction and chapter 1
Summary:
On the first chapters, the author of this book tells a story of their migration from the U.S. to German, along with the culture shock on how Germans value punctuality and especially how the Germans raising their children.
Papa's read
Title: Bumi Manusia
Author: Pramoedya Ananta Toer
Chapter read: 13
Summary: Papa is still in progress of reading this novel. This is quite interesting story which take background of will become Indonesia in the beginning of 20th century. This is the story of Minke a Javanese man who fall in love to Annelies, a beautiful Indo who is the daughter of a dutch father and pribumi mother. The life was very unjust in that period where a status of a person will be depend how much European blood running in their vein.
